REtirement in ACTion (REACT), the groundbreaking exercise programme for older adults at risk of mobility loss, is being rolled out across two regions in England. It has been demonstrated as significantly improving older adults’ physical function for at least two years through the clinical trial funded by the @National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Grant funding from the @Vivensa Foundation is enabling this roll out.
LLT’s role is to develop and train the leaders of the REACT sessions, creating a work force that is skilled and experienced in ensuring participants will make progress, move on to other activity opportunities, as well as enjoy the programme and the company of those on the same journey.
Dawn Skelton, Director of LLT says: “The REACT programme focuses on supporting participants to understand their bodies and how best to create a ‘training effect’ that will lead to improved outcomes for each person. As a provider committed to delivering initiatives proven to work with older people to maintain strength, balance and thus prospects for maintaining independence, we are delighted to play acore part in the roll out of REACT.”
